Our Story

Layla Salim is the owner and expert at Hair Centers of America. Born and raised in Minnesota, Salim graduated from Mayo Clinic’s School of Health Sciences Surgical First program. 

While working in cosmetic surgery and later at a dermatology center after graduation, Salim realized the need for a medical tattoo artist dedicated to hair loss and scars. She founded Medical Tattoo & Cosmetic Centers of America – the first center of its kind in Minnesota, offering a medical approach to hair loss and cosmetic solutions. 

After several successful years running the clinic, Salim felt a calling to expand her hair restoration solutions. Even though there are other hair graft centers in the Twin Cities, Salim couldn’t find one custom-made for each hair patient. She knew cookie-cutter services and hair restoration do not mix. On top of that, she was seeing a lot of damage and scars on patients returning from Turkey and other countries. She received inquiries from people wanting to fix the damage done overseas. 

With Hair Centers of America, Salim has expanded services to offer permanent solutions for all types of hair loss or to enhance facial hair, including eyebrows, beards, and mustaches.

We also have the artistic ability to customize hairlines, carefully planning for how your hair loss and hairline might change in the future. For our LGBTQ+ community, this means our hair loss procedures can aid in facial feminization or bringing down the hairline.
